Let's talk about the name
I'm 3 years old staring up at a towering pear tree. As gravity would have it, a piece of fruit nails me right between the eyes and explodes into a sweet purée evoking an over-reaction of tears and screams normally reserved for bed time. That's it, nothing clever or metaphorical, metaphysical maybe? It is, however, the very first story I can remember from my childhood and since storytelling is what we do here, it felt like a natural fit.
